Mackenna's Gold is a colorful, action-packed western feature with an all-star cast. Mackenna (Gregory Peck) has committed to memory the map that leads to some hidden Apache gold. The Indians now want the gold to finance their fight against the white men who invade their territory. Weak formula western.
Overlong, absurd bore.
I sat through this whole thing, and then 30 minutes from the end, our satellite goes out. Add a couple choice expletives to frustration and you get the picture.

Far too long, which results in more than a few slow stretches. The interesting cast is a big plus as is the big budget of the film. Good cinematography, fine score.
