So true. It is definitely not for small children. The two with me were lost and bored. They are the supposed audience but too much of it would only be understood by older children or by adults.
Hi, I saw this movie yesterday and I don't think it was all that good. M2 is a great movie. M1 is OK. M3 is just a bunch of obvious gags. The animation is good. The actors are very good. Just not much of a plot. The villan in this movie has nothing to admire. At least the bad guy (bad lion) in M2 was charming and humorous. The villan in this movie just wants to get a lion. yawn Makunga was trying for something much more consequential (alpha lion) and it was fun to watch him go about getting it. He had personality.
In M2, the relationship between Gloria and Melman was also something to enjoy seeing develop. There's nothing like that in M3. In M3, we have Alex making bedroom eyes at another critter. obvious, yawn
The special King Julian and penguin magic that was there in M2 is pretty much gone in M3. Although King Julian in love with a bear was kind of funny.
In M2, Marty had a pretty important role to play, playing off of Alex. Not much of that in M3.
Kids will laugh at the obvious slapstick on screen. My kids said that they liked it. But even I liked M2 adn even M1. But not M3.
Considering how good M2 was, and how much time they had to make M3 after M2, I say feh
