A lesser-known work from esteemed Polish director Andrzej Wajda, Young Girls of Wilko (AKA Maids of Wilko) is set in the late 1920s. Daniel Olbrychski plays a fortyish World War I veteran in search of his lost youth. He visits the home of a group of sisters with which he had spent several pleasant visits just prior to the war. The visit proves an education in many ways, sometimes pleasant, sometimes less so. The original Polish title of Young Girls of Wilko was Panny Z Wilka.
