When Streep, Walters and Baranski share the screen, Mamma Mia! comes alive and earns its exclamation point. The rest is forced gaiety pushed to the breaking point.
Okay, I do like ABBA. I don't know why ater spending my life with Springsteen and Jazz.. I saw the Broadway musical a few years back and I was standing and dancing in the aisles and singing my heart out just as everyone else was in the audience. And we marched out singing.
So after a few of these reviews, I can't even imagine going to the movie. Pierce Brosnan?? The actors in the play and the people playing synthesizers in the opera pit were right there with us..just as happy as we were.
Are people supposed to sing along with this movie? The stage was so well-contained that I can't even imagine seeing helicopter views of the Greek island.
So thank you for warning me off!
