As a result of a discussion between a trio of gods over the true worthiness of Earth, a retiring British shop assistant is granted miraculous powers in this fantasy based on an H.G. Wells story. Roland Young stars as George McWhirter Fotheringay, whose new powers are virtually limitless; choosing to use them for good, he sets out to create a utopian society. Audience Reviews for The Man Who Could Work Miracles

Nice adaptation of H.G. Wells story about one of the ultimate dreams, as the recent spate of superhero epics underline: what if a soul had more, extra power than everyone else? Well, as Stan Lee has opined in SpiderMan, "with great power comes great responsibility" and so our comic everyman finds out here in this 1930's English production.

This H. G. Welles story is probably my favourite fantasy movie of the thirties. Young gives a good performance as a man who gets the power to perform miracles. The plot may seem familiar to us now, but this movie is still worth seeing, the ending is pretty cool, and the movie has a lot of humorous scenes, both intentional and unintentional humor. I enjoyed this movie, it makes me wonder what I would do with the power to work miracles. What would you do?
