Yeh, the numerical conversion is obviously a FRESH, but I think RT reads through the review to see if the tone and context of what was written is considered FRESH.
That being said, seems like her taste in movies is different. Johnny O points out that she might be a DC fangirl, lol.
thats not how it works. They have explained this in the past. Whoever submits the review will indicated if its fresh or rotten and if there is confusion RT asks for clarification. At least thats how it used to work.
i agree movie fail but i was just letting people know. Its not really common knowledge but the next movie that happens with it will be the same comments all over again. The only reason i even know is that one of the rt admin posted a comment stating thats how it works
^ She seems to dislike Marvel films in general. She gave Avengers, Iron Man, and Incredible Hulk all rotten reviews. But she gives all DC films including Watchmen all fresh reviews.
The link I posted showing Amy Nicholson's bias review history (that she's hated all Marvel movies rotten, but loves every DC film fresh) has also been suspiciously removed.
RottenTomatoes in general, due to WB affilikation, are out there to make Dark Knight Rises look better than the Avengers. But I assure you, it won't even come close.
I think it's pretty funny how the Onion accidentally posted their article under this site instead.
She's a good writer, the stupidity in her arguments almost made me think she was serious...
Come on, people. This website is only supposed to give us a vague sense of how the majority feels about the movie. It doesn't matter what one critic says. Look at the overall percentage and ask yourself one thing:
Are you going to see the movie or not?
End of story.
I swear... they should just turn off the commenting feature until the movie actually opens in theaters. Nobody here has the authority to give input on the movie until they've seen it for themselves.
Now you sir have no credibility. Drive Angry, Twilight and Changeup are horrible movies. And War Horse, Slumdog Millionare, and Pans Labyrinth are great movies. Avengers will be a great movie.
He/She was referring to the critic, Amy Nicholson, as having rated those awful movies as "fresh" and rating good movies as "rotten". He/she was pointing out that the critic has a questionable track record.
i called people like you commenting on the first rotten review of the Avengers and commenting about how their credibility is somehow all lost because they disliked a movie that you have not seen and then looking up every time the critic disagreed with the meter and bashing them for it. you realize critics need to have diverse opinions, right? or else what help would they be?
If she didn't like, i can't fault her for her opinion.
But she gave it a 3 star rating.
3 Stars is rotten?
If she'd have given the flick a 2, then there would be no question that she thought negatively of the movie.
Saw quite a bit of negativity and sarcasm in her review, but still a 3.
Forgive my lack of knowledge on the scoring system/methodology here.
3 is bad?
really? is that what she said? let's see..."ask not what Michael Bay would do to New Yorkâ??ask what Hieronymus Bosch would do to anywhere he damn well pleased. A film from a comic universe has no limits to its creativity"
I agree, I thought she was comparing Joss to Bay and was about to steamroller her, but I'm actually not a presumptuous moron and actually read what she said properly, and it's a valid point. Still a bit silly, but she's not insulting Whedon.
Part of the big deal is that Avengers would be at 100% without her idiotic attention seeking review.
If she was doing a legitimate critique of the Film with valid points I do not think most of us would be saying anything.
Knowing that a film many of us have been excited about for 4-5 years has exceeded expectations and isn't getting any bad hype from legitimate critics is HUGE. Do you know how few films have 1100% on the Tomato meter? To us fans knowing it had a shot at that and was robbed of it by a critic who should not have a leg to stand on as far as credibility is concerned (look at her reviews). She has terrible taste poor insight and you can blatantly tell she did not pay attention during the film, or during the other marvel films which she also reviewed. She didn't eve get names of re occurring characters right.
She should be cleaning houses or waiting tables not reviewing films.

Why is your 3/5 rotten, when every other 3/5 on this site is fresh (60%)?

I don't get why people don't understand that that is how it works. The reviewer tells RT if they say it's "Rotten" or "Fresh."
End of story.

Repost!
Warner Bros has different interpretations of 3/5 ratings for Rotten Tomatoes. Sometimes they're fresh, sometimes roten.
As far as this review goes, she calls Nick Fury as "Nick Frost", and looking at her past reviews:
