Critic Review - Fan The Fire

It was right the Avengers shouldn't gel right at once, but how that get-to-know-you period is played out in the script gets massively out of hand.

Yes, because there are only 4 top critics on the whole site. That number will probably end up going down too.

8 top critics have reviewed it though.

Richard Corliss, Justin Chang, Christy Lemire and Todd McCarthy are, as of this posting, the only Top Critics to have reviewed the movie thus far. There will be much more, and it's more than likely that a select few will be negative.

I think you'll find that James White, Robbie Collin, Catherine Bray, Todd McCarthy, Henry Barnes, Justin Chang, Tom Huddleston, Richard Corliss were the top critics at that time. Let me just count those for you... 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8!

Is every single negative review actually going to get labeled as a troll or b.s.? Why can't people just accept the fact that there will be people who don't like the movie. The tomatometer isn't the final authority on what films are good and bad. The movie is probably going to get a handful more negative reviews before next week.

We might as well just accept it and be happy that the movie has turned out this well so far. If rotten reviews ruin your enjoyment of the film, then something is really wrong with you.

I saw this movie, and to be perfectly honest, I have no idea how anyone could come out thinking it was bad. I seriously thought Whedon did an amazing job fitting everything he did into the film whilst maintaining extremely solid dialogue and extremely well directed action sequences. The only real faults are maybe Loki not being involved enough with the movie, and well, to be honest, that's all I can come up with.

I thought the film was stunning, it's the kind of film you watch and just smile through from beginning to end, because it's just so exciting.

I can't believe I'm joining in with this mob protest, but the prose in this guy's review is appalling. I quote: "A languid, misdirected, badly written adventure, our negative review caused quite the uproar online..." Well, I'm sorry you feel your own review was a "badly written adventure" but I have to admire your candour. Has nobody told you to avoid the dangling modifier?

And yet in his review of Avengers, he stated that he thought Iron Man 2 was hollow. Not only is he ignorant, but he's a hypocrite too.

You can't say "Iā??m sorry fanboys, we hated this one too" while also saying "The Avengers isnā??t terrible" praising some parts of the script and cast.

The only movies you should hate (if you have to actually "hate" a movie at all) are terrible movies.

Well you know what. This guy lost me in his review in the first paragraph when he called Thor a "languid, misdirected, badly written adventure".

Thor was great. It seems from his review that the only Marvel Cinematic Universe movie that he actually liked was the first Iron Man. Maybe this guy should just keep to watching Pride and Prejudice.

Actually, he liked Iron Man 2 as well, which doesn't make any sense...

I don't mind bad reviews seeing how 99.9% of movies gets them. I do mind a bad review written to be mean or or just to be different without regard to the profession of critic. I know Ebert may be a bit old fashioned by today's standards but perhaps some "critics" could take a few lessons from him on professionalism. He definitely judges by merit and not personal bias or gain.

Apr 26 - 05:10 AM

Nick Matthews

Nick Matthews

Exactly. I never expected Avengers to get 100% thats ridiculous and in a world with Armond White it would never happen. I would however like to be able to read a negative review that didn't feel like I was in elementary school with a couple of bullies holding my head in a toilet, stealing my lunch money.

I guess the outright bias bothers me the most. Like the previous bad review. She quite obviously leans towards films that are geared to women. Okay, I get that. Perhaps she and this other guy should stick to their niche. If you know you can't be objective then don't. But be professional enough to know you won't like a film because of it's genre and not review it at all. I couldn't review a horror film because I can't remember the last time I saw a good "HORROR" film thus am extremely skeptical and wouldn't allow any leeway at all. Not fair at all to the film. Stick to what you know.

Positive reviews for the green hornet, green lantern, iron man 3, transformers 2, terminator salvation. I think it's safe to say this guy has a horrible taste in superhero type films.

Well I will say this. This critic doesn't know what he is talking about. But why must you say he can't like another movie you didn't?. I don't agree with his opinion on Avengers but I enjoyed Transformers 3, Terminator Salvation, and Green Hornet. Now it is a little hypocritical to say I just want to be entertained but not like Avengers. Next let me ask you this

Apr 26 - 06:53 PM

Brandon Carlson

Brandon Carlson

Let me ask you this now. So since I like Grown Ups, does that mean my opinion on The Avengers doesn't mean anything. Cause I can't wait to see this. I'm even seeing the marvel marathon. But I'm not aloud to like Avengers since I liked transformers and grown ups and all these other movies you hated. This was a horribly written review just like Amys was. But that doesn't mean he isn't aloud to have an opinion.

"Iron Man 2 (2010) " Iron Man 2 might not have the power or tone of the recent Batman film, but that's not what the filmmakers are after, and crafting thrill ride that's so easy and accessible to take in, it'll be tough to find a more fun way to spend a couple of hours." ā?? Fan The Fire
Posted Apr 27, 2010"

It looks like you were a happier man then? Perhaps you are no longer capable of being entertained? I don't know... but, I sincerely doubt you are judging iron man 2 and the avengers on the same scale. 4/5 versus 2/5... really?

Having seen both, I can assure you The Avengers is 10 times as entertaining as iron man 2.
