What you need to remember is that these films are trying to bridge the gap bewtween the comic book readers and general public.

At least it's not over-convoluted bullshit

Gee, that sounds like what usually happens in the superhero universe :p

The storytelling is the most important aspect of all movies. Yet people see the alien army as an except able "beginning" to the Avengers series of films. The dialogue might have had its clever moments, but this movies lack of bringing any new storytelling elements is its downfall. They could have tried so many other things?. but an alien army? That's the best they could do? That is a poor excuse. This is no great super hero movie.
And Haenik, a movie being unpredictable doesn't make it good. Want to see the best superhero movie? Go watch the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy. It is the best crime thriller/superhero movie of all time. Heck, they are some of the greatest movies of all time/

The Dark Knight trilogy is only great, not a masterpiece. The Avengers is just the purest COMIC BOOK MOVIE to date. Nothing else.

Agreed, it was comic book fun and that is what it set out to be.

Ok two things one it is based off a comic book series that is like over 40 years old so the whole army of aliens is what is in the comics, they need material to go off of. You complain about an alien army what else do you want from a COMIC BOOK movie, a team of super villains that is probably the next best thing. Two new storytelling, it was based off of something, no one ever accused it of being the most original film.

The story is present in 5 other movies. This is just how the Avengers got assembled. It's like a comic book saga, like Civil War or Avengers vs X-Men, the story is told in other individual comics, and the comic dedicated to the event has little storytelling as the objetive is to tell the consecuences of the events of the individual comics. This movie is were all that happened in Iron 1&2, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America the First Avenger and Thor comes together and gets solved. Also, do you really think that with many characters a coherent storytelling was possible? I liked this style were storytelling is tin but the dialogue is clever.

Thank you Geraldo Gallardo for explaining something some people are to thickheaded to understand. Plus this is not the type of film that needs some mind f*ck of a story.

This guy really doesn't understand what a comic book movie is like.
Ash J. Gilmore
