I was hoping it would be from Hawkeye's, because he's kind of the central figure in that team in reality (or was back in the eighties when I was 8). Also I saw an interesting animated "Avengers" movie on CN recently that had a pretty good plot with Hawkeye in the central role, and he's one of the remaining characters who hasn't had his backstory fleshed out yet. Plus, despite my opinion on some of his movies, I like Renner a lot more than Chris Evans.

That must have been a short time cause I rarely remember Hawkeye being more important in the Avengers than Cap, Iron Man or Thor, though as a character I guess he's usurped the latter a couple times since Thor is usually a blunt object in The Avengers. Cap is the obvious choice for me, though I agree as actors Renner is superior to Evans.

Indeed. Cap is obvious choice. And I gotta tell ya, I'm still not over Civil War so I'm definitely glad it's not Iron Man. ;)

Civil War made us all hate Stark. I hated Cap' before it but loved him after!

Tall Cool One !
Hawkeye was the leader of the West Coast Avengers. Maybe you are thinking of that.

I remember that, but I didn't get much further than the mini-series. I also remember Hawkeye getting a lot of stories in a 'solo' Avengers title. But in the Avengers comics I read, the bigger names were more honorary. They'd shop up and help out, and occasionally be involved in the more epic storylines, but most of the time the focus was on Hawkeye and Vision, with Hawkeye definitely being the more assertive of the two. Of the characters known solely for the Avengers, as opposed to carrying their own titles, Hawkeye is surely the best known, which is why I'd like to see him be the glue in the storyline of this film. I'm far less familiar with Avengers storylines from the 60s, although I did used to enjoy the "Marvel Saga" line of historical breakdowns. So I know Cap America started the group, but I remember his involvement as more peripheral.

Yeah, it doesn't hold up for hardcore fans which even I'm afraid to call myself because there are people who are scary into it, but the Avengers actually joined together to fight Loki and consisted of Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, Giant Man and The Wasp. Cap joined after he was found in the ice and was the team lead for large portions of the teams history. Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver joined as the first team refresh similar to Storm, Wolverine, Colossus and Nightcrawlers inclusion in XMen. The hook being that they were all reformed criminals being given a second chance.

There were and/or are supposed to be 4 Avengers movies each told from an individual-character's perspective--in 2009, the directed wanted to release four Avengers movies in a single summer.
If character-perspective is the issue, all the guy needs to do is shoot the action from 8 or 10 different angels and write four screenplays what utilize the same action sequences.
Jan 13 - 01:05 PM
1. The guy you speak of was never actually the director.
2. He was only BS-ing about what HE would do with the movie -- not sharing any of Marvel's legitimate plans.
Jan 13 - 01:16 PM
I don't think Marvel would go with a Rashomon approach for a stand alone film, let alone a tetralogy.
Jan 15 - 09:21 AM
I'm thinking this is a clever way to put a stop to all the "This is just another Iron Man movie with more extra characters" talk that's been going around.
Jan 14 - 11:31 AM
I would think this makes sense. Cap is the leader and his perspective is the one that determines how missions are going to go.
Jan 15 - 08:54 AM
I, of course, am all for my boy Cap taking center stage in this regard. I just hope that a sequel focuses on Ultron, the creation of Vision and the fate of Wonder Man.
Jan 15 - 09:24 AM
That's a pretty big leap to take and would require additional cast and intros to an already crowded picture. I'd hate to see it go X3 where they shortchange just about everybody trying to fit so many characters in.
