Together, they infiltrate the circle of Don Raphael - the fiercest of the Spanish tyrants. Armed with his mask, sword, whip and jet-black stallion, Tornado, the new Zorro embarks on a mission to stop Don Raphael's plot to buy California, set right 20 years of wrongs, bring justice to the people ensnared by Spanish greed, and win the heart of Don Diego's daughter, Elena (Catherine Zeta-Jones in a star-making performance). THE MASK OF ZORRO is an old-fashioned swashbuckler with plenty of modern sizzle thanks to the casting of Banderas and then-newcomer Zeta-Jones. [More]

Reviews for The Mask of Zorro
Proudly old-fashioned in every way except the often excessive violence that director Martin Campbell splashes across the screen.
A rollicking good time filled with zesty swordplay, swashbuckling set pieces, spicy romance, and, heck, even a reasonably plausible storyline.
This zestful revival of the swashbuckler film will carve a mark in your consciousness.
At its best, this 'Zorro' captures some of the dizzyingly romantic flavor of pulp fiction. ...Unfortunately, Martin Campbell has directed this Mexican melodrama in an often uninspired fashion.
Zorro follows the predictable paths of action movies, but re-energizes the pattern with adrenaline, exuberance, creativity, and humor.
With a perfectly cast Antonio Banderas slashing those Zs, The Mask of Zorro offers as many zesty sword fights as an Errol Flynn film festival.
