This might be the most grossly under examined, childish review that I have ever seen, especially considering this is a critic that I HAD very much respect for. Even further unnerving is the fact that Mr. Travers dismisses the Matrix as some sort of red headed step child, only to say that he doesn't understand what was going on the movie. Maybe this is just my disgust at one of my favorite critics giving one of my favorite movies a bad review, but mostly likely this comment was fueled by me conceiving this as as the most shocking review I have seen from someone who is supposed to be a professional.
It's not because he didn't like the movie review, it's because the critic didn't put any effort into critiquing the movie and gave a crude and half-thought comment.
wow, you really are a horrible critic. It is comforting to know that all the ignorant old people, with irrelevant views (much like yourself) will eventually die soon, leaving room for the fresher generations to voice their knowledgeable opinions.
Define 'Movie Review' this critic I have never seen before nor read any of his reviews so I had no opinion about him until I read this review. It's not that somebody didn't like the Matrix, it's that they said "This movie's bad" and didn't say why. It appears (from this review ALONE) that this person hasn't really put any effort into reviewing this film and deserves not to have reviewed it. It's like me taking a quick glance at a piece of your work and saying 'that sucks' and then telling everyone else that it sucks. You wouldn't appreciate it if somebody did that to you, so why should this person be allowed to do it to the directors of the film? The people that like the film are just getting annoyed BECAUSE he has not elaborated on his crude review.
"Keanu Reeves plays Neo, a computer hacker who thinks he's living in the twentieth century but is really a pawn in a giant virtual-reality game controlled by twenty-second-century programmers."
Reviewing a movie is not about coming up with some smart quips to pull it down. Gosh- it's so easy to criticize, but a lot more difficult and commendable to make an innovative, well-crafted movie. When I read such reviews, I really feel each reviewer must prove his/her worth by making some great (or at least good) movies first. I doubt there would be so many pretentious critics ready to berate excellent movies just to sound different.
I seem to remember him liking this movie when it came out. I wonder if he was reviewing the trilogy as a whole, despite the date assigned this critique.

I can't believe you lost respect for the critic you had respect for just because he didn't like one movie you liked!
