From Quinton McHale's first onscreen appearance on a pair of water skis, 1960s audiences knew the hero of the title wasn't a typical navy officer. Set in World War II, this military sitcom features a band of unlikely shipmen led by McHale (Oscar winner Ernest Borgnine, MARTY) that were more at war with their staid superiors than with the Axis powers.
