Movie Info

A man tries to come to terms with the many ideals that have failed him in this visually striking drama from filmmaker Miguel Coyula. Sergio (Ron Blair) was born and raised in Cuba, and from the time he was old enough to have his own ideas about politics he was passionate advocate of the principles of socialism and his nation's attempts to bring the Marxist ideal to life. Audience Reviews for Memories of Overdevelopment

Being able to watch this in a screening with the director Miguel Coyula was one of the best experiences I ever had when watching a film. Especially a film so deep with symbolism and stunning creativity that I have been anxiously awaiting a DVD release of the film since 2009. Owning Miguel's films "Red Cockroaches", "The Plastic Fork" and "Light Valve" I can very clearly say that I am a big fan of the director. "Memories of Overdevelopment" is a bravely unique way of approaching social alienation and the feeling of self-stagnation in a world that understanding leaks through fingers regardless how tight the grip. Amazing use of collage, a master of precise and flawless editing and pacing, it is a must see for all those who bask in creative splendor of such epic socially conscious pieces of cinema such as Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "A Clockwork Orange", as well as Luis Buñuel's "Land Without Bread".
