First, administrators cannot cover the mortgage payments to finance an addition to the facility. Reformed resident Whitey Marsh puts himself up for adoption to a wealthy couple whom he hopes will fork over the cash to finance Boys Town's debts. Then, in the second plot thread, Whitey is mistakenly implicated in a robbery and tossed behind bars! The third story involves embittered Ted Martley. Convicted of manslaughter, he suffers from a bad back caused by his stay in a barbaric reformatory. He feels his life is hopeless.
