Trailer Bulletin: Miami Vice
Michael Mann was one of the creators of the very popular 80s cop series "Miami Vice," so when the inevitable time came to turn the show into a movie, there was only one logical choice for director. Mr. Mann wrote, produced, and directed the upcoming adaptation of "Miami Vice" for Universal, and his leading men are Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell. Click here for the trailer.
"The cocaine cowboys of the '80s are gone, but Miami's Casablanca allure, the undercover cops and the attitudes of Michael Mann's culturally influential television series have been enhanced by time in the feature film version of "Miami Vice".
Ricardo Tubbs is urbane and dead smart. He lives with Bronx-born intel analyst Trudy, as they work undercover transporting drug loads into South Florida to identify a group responsible for three murders.
Sonny Crockett is charismatic and flirtatious until-while undercover working with the supplier of the South Florida group-he gets romantically entangled with Isabella, the Chinese-Cuban wife of an arms and drugs trafficker.
"Miami Vice," as a large-scale feature film, liberates what is adult, dangerous and alluring about working deeply undercover, especially when Crockett and Tubbs go to where their badges don't count.
"Miami Vice" stars Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Gong Li, Naomie Harris and Ciarán Hinds and is written and directed by Michael Mann, who also produces along with Pieter Jan Brugge; Anthony Yerkovich serves as executive producer."

Michael Mann's previous films include "Collateral," "Heat," "The Insider," and "Manhunter."
"Miami Vice" is scheduled for release on July 28th.

darcko writes: on Feb 23 2006 03:10 PM I saw this trailer with Underworld 2. Anyway, it looks neat; it definitely looks like it has Mann's style all over it. But yeah, the music they picked for the trailer (it's "Numb/Encore" mash-up), although I think is a decent track as far as okay music goes, is roughly a decent pick. (Reply to this) |

Krooked writes: on Feb 23 2006 05:55 PM Hey, the music works well enough with the trailer... it made Linkin Park bearable. This movie loos like it has all sorts of style, I'll be seeing it. Mann could make it work. (Reply to this) |

ArmyofJuan writes: on Feb 23 2006 07:01 PM Allright. I'll give in that it worked for the trailer, but hopefully when the film releases they'll atleast have one little throwback to the series. (Reply to this) |

wilkiedriver writes: on Feb 23 2006 08:40 PM Calm down...I can't remember the last time the main song of a trailer was also in the movie so it probably won't be in it anyways. I have that Jay-Z/Linkin Park album...It was cool....but it got old and annoying fast, but what's with the Linkin Park haters? Are you people too cool to listen because they are too mainstream or the fact that they are played on pop stations? (Reply to this) |

lovelykeira writes: on Feb 24 2006 01:28 PM I think it looks tight, like Mann did it in the same vain as Collateral, which is my favorite movie of his and Foxx's. Plus I like Farrell, and Harris. (Reply to this) |

Symmetrical writes: on Mar 01 2006 10:43 AM Tubbs and Crockett How about updating the names if they are going to update everything else. Hardly seems to be a take off of the show so why even relate to it at all? Hearing them called Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs for two hours is just going to be comical and take away from the movie. wakeofinsanity writes: on Mar 01 2006 12:39 PM In reply to this comment (#831384) nah I'm pretty sure linkin park just sucks. I'm not terribly impressed with Jay-Z either... whatever, the soundtrack will just date the movie, making it hard to watch in even 3 years. (Reply to this) |
