Critic Review - Denver Post

Midnight in Paris is charming and clever, at times wickedly astute and hopeful.

"Charming and clever"??? That's enough for you? Your words betray you. You might as well say SHALLOW and you'd be correct.

This film had possibilities, but Allen succumbed to cliches. Rachel McAdams' character and her parents were one big cliche after another. Why is the film so slow? So unfunny? Because Owen Wilson's character is unsympathetic and stupid. Did someone think showing us famous names from the twenties and having them spout some lines was enough for a movie?!

I understand why 10/15% of the film is in french. BUT WHY NO SUBTITLES?!

After VICKY CHRISTINA, this effort was very disappointing.
