This film wants us to understand both how far we've come as a society and that it is still not far enough.
This is listed as a rotten review? From what I've read on the review, it seems that Turan had some reservations but the review is overall quite positive.

haha if this review is really rotten, that must be the lowest 4/5 ever given!
Nov 26 - 04:22 PM
Yes Kenneth...we have so much farther to go. Shut up and review films idiot

RT does know that metacritic interpreted this review as a 7/10, right? After reading it, I would have to say I agree with that interpretation.
Nov 26 - 07:26 PM
hmm there must be a mistake because it says rottentomatoes interpreted the review as a 4/5 or an 80 and last time I checked 80 is not only fresh, but very positive.

I am sure is a misplacement. I read the whole review in LA Times and it seems GOOD, well written. Mr. Turan is a fine reviewer. Someone should correct the mistake.

Well That sure as hell doesnt sound like a review. Do your job

No one wants to watch a gay movie but
gay people, and the title is about as
clever as a dump truck rear-ending, don't
get excited, your moped.

RE: Sizzler - Are you seriously this stupid to think that only gay people watch films about gay social issues in our society? Wake up. There are actually far more thoughtful, compassionate and intelligent people in the world than you may think. You may not hang out with nay of them, but you are in the minority.

RE: Explorz- Sorry, actually a great minority of the American people are bigots from the South. Let them continue their rain of hate and intolerance on everything apparently against religion/social norm. But on topic 4/5 is a fresh review. I also read the review, it wasn't rotten, more like positive leaning neutral. =/ Can't wait to see this movie!!!

Normally I would have let this go and call it ignorance, but if this isn't the pot calling the kettle black I fail to see what is.All you have done in your comment here is allow us to see how dim you truly are. Sizzler states only gays watch gay movies, than you come in and bring up the south and to that I ask why?Beyond that your statement makes little sense, ie: "A great minority of the south". Quit stereotyping and be rational in your responses. As for the movie, I thought it was good and Penn did an amazing job acting in it. In a year where many movies have flopped or not held onto my expectations, I'm glad this one has.

Are you actually suggesting that the only bigots in America are in the South? I live in freaking San Francisco and there are anti-gay bigots here. And I lived many years in the deep heart of the South before moving here, in fact.
You're an ignorant **** - just as bad as those you criticize. Now shut your mouth.

This isn't a gay movie. It's a movie about an actual set of events that actually happened in America. The fact that Harvey Milk was a gay activist is only part of the story.
If you'd pull your homophobic head out of your posterior, you'd proabably see that.
Dec 3 - 04:50 PM
@ Sizzler - You are right, only gay people like watching movies about gay people, just like only black people watch movies about plack people, footballers watch football movies, and superheroes watch superhero movies. In fact we could all just save ourselves the cost and endless hassle of actually watching movies by sitting in front of the mirror all night.

Why does everyone care so much about the score this movie gets? Every rotten review has someone bichting about how it should have gotten a better score.
