Movie Info

Leading man Mark Strong plays John Washington, a detective with the unique ability to enter people's minds and memories (presumably to help people recall event details pertinent to solving cases). Washington takes on the case of a troubled teenage girl named Anna, played by up-and-coming young actress Taissa Farmiga, who is accused of an attempted triple homicide. To uncover the mystery surrounding Anna and her story, Washington will enter her mind and try to find out the truth: is Anna capable of killing, or is there something hidden in her memories that shows otherwise? If only the movie didn't insist on constantly telling us what it has quite clearly shown.

An old-fashioned thriller with a stale sci-fi premise and a prodigal waste of talent in co-star Taissa Farmiga.

A slick and mostly rewarding mystery whose action is divided up between the outer and inner worlds.

Dorado proves nimble at chase scenes, and the ending is immensely satisfying: not impossible to predict, per se, but probably the third or fourth possible outcome you imagined.

Audience Reviews for Anna

This Spanish-American psychological thriller is also known under the name Mindscape, and it is a debut feature of the Spanish director Jorge Dorado. The film stars the emerging star Taissa Farmiga as Anna, Mark Strong as John Washington, and Brian Cox. The complex story is manly cantered on John, a detective with the ability to enter peoples' memories, and his case of a brilliant but troubled and dangerous 16 year old girl, Anna. In his attempt to determine whether she is a sociopath or a victim of trauma - he makes a wrong choice...

The film's script was written by Guy Holmes and during the most of the movie you will be happy with the arguments presented and the smart way they were used! With different elements of a thriller, horror and fantasy - it should attract the audience which likes such combinations, but those numbers will never be huge. The assured directing was done spot on, as well as the perfectly casted crew which delivered excitement and suspense on a script which was a little bit rushed towards the end and it went over-the-top few times without proper explanation.

Still, it is very enjoyable and entertaining psychological thriller filled with a slight eroticism between the main actors which you should check it out!

A psychological thriller as it should be. What a great movie. Outstanding performances by both Farmiga and Strong, brilliant script, and an ending truly worthy of praise. Minds ape is captivating from start to finish leaving you wanting more.

Strong and Farmiga are really something to watch in this movie. The story was solid, but fairly predictable. Even though you suspect how things are going to turn out the strong performances keep you riveted until the credits roll.
