This touching drama about the lasting personal consequences of war features an all-star cast and beautiful photography. George Calden (Ed Asner, SPIDER MAN) is an aging patriarch and the father of of three sons, one of whom, Brendan, has been missing in action since the Vietnam War. George remains haunted by the memory of Brendan, and when he receives word that new evidence has been uncovered as to his son's whereabouts, he decides to travel to Vietnam and attempt to solve the mystery. His son Sean (Richard Cox, GUIDING LIGHT) readily agrees to go, but his brother Bob (Robin Thomas, THE BANGER SISTERS) has reservations due to his own experiences during the war. Eventually he decides to accompany his family, bringing along his son Patrick (Adam Brody, THE OC). Once at the site, early success in the hunt for clues is complicated by interference from authorities and George's failing health. But the family perseveres, while Patrick develops a relationship with a local girl. Bob's initial outrage at this development eventually cools, and he apologizes for harsh words he exchanged with the girl's father, bringing to light a surprising and heartrending revelation. [Less]
