All in all, Money Buys Happiness shows that Lachow is a director worth keeping an eye on.
Like watching an acting exercise in the rehearsal stages; this project feels as if it is still on its way to being realized.
There are glimmers of good filmmaking in Money Buys Happiness, but the main characters are generally unlikeable.
Neither too surreal nor too self-involved, the film leavens its obvious symbolism with quirky digressions and a sharp appreciation of all the troublesome details of a troubled marriage.
