Monsignor Renard (2006)
A man of faith puts his life on the line to combat Nazi tyranny in this three-part mini-series, which received its American premiere on the PBS series Masterpiece Theatre. Born and raised in the French community of Saint-Josse de Bois, Monsignor Renard (John Thaw) returns after 20 years to guide the town's Catholic church. But the year is 1940, France has fallen to the Nazis, and the German military has chosen Saint-Josse de Bois to launch an invasion of England. Renard becomes an agent of the French Resistance, as the rest of the community is torn between accommodating their new leaders and fighting for the freedom of their homeland; the Monsignor ministers to them all as they deal with both the dark cloud of World War II and their own personal dilemmas. Monsignor Renard also features Cheryl Campbell, Dominic Monaghan, Juliette Caton, and Des McAleer. … More
