Takashi Miike recommends that you watch this miniseries without trying to sort out the details, and I agree. It's something that needs to wash over you, and by the time you're at the end of episode two, an understanding of the greater plot sets in, and it's damn near impossible not to want to devour the remaining four
episodes immediately.
The premise is based on what the title most straightforwardly spells out, and his search for a the perpetrator of a string of murders. This eventually expands into a grand international conspiracy, but honestly the story is so much more than that it would take a comprehensive essay to synopse.
Point is, get some friends, get some drinks and party food, and marathon this miniseries. I bought the series, being a big Miike fan, and they sat on my shelf for a year before I watched them. After I did, I kicked myself for waiting so long (thinking that a 6 hour commitment was a big investment). I immediately put the first disc back in, and watched it all over again.
