Mr. Popper's Penguins Reviews

I thought it was both entertaining and refreshingly CLEAN! SO tired of everything coming out having to have filth in it, but this film was both fun and very good natured. If this is what some who want to feel like they are on the "cutting edge" of society want to call "old fashioned," then I would say call me old fashioned too and I will take that as a compliment.

This movie made an attempt to be funny I think in a kids way, but the problem is it really lacked humor that could be funny to the parents level as well.

A mildly amusing family movie. Take all-too-familiar family situation + insert goofy penguins. Meh.

Even though it has Jim Carrey this movie still does not interest me. Sorry Jim, have some more respect for yourself and maybe I'll actually start watching your movies again.

Not Carrey's better work, but he does breathe life into the main character as he tries to care for the penguins he receives suddenly. His attempts to assimilate with the lifestyle is brilliant fun, which does make up for most of the movie.

Thoroughly undermining, slightly entertaining, mostly thanks to excellent special effects on the charming penguins with a typically witty performance from Carrey.

This is nothing like the book. It looks almost like they copied Happy Feet.
The names of the penguins aren't even right!
Go get the book, you'll have a lot more fun.
What a waste of money!

I'll be surprise if those funny and cute penguins were real in the film, which it's funny like a Carrey comedy with some of his elements. (B+)

While kind of annoying and sometimes boring and nothing like the book (i should really hate this movie), i'm kind of at a cross here because this flim is cute and Jim Carrey does have a few good lines.

"Mr. Popper's Penguins" is absolutely harmless, to the point that it struggles to be interesting. There is no real sense of urgency or drama due to the shoehorned villain (which this movie did not need) and when the main character's life goes off the rails because of his love for a group of penguins that are suddenly dropped onto his doorstep you'll be thinking to yourself "well, duh!". As a family film, there's really no reason to choose this over anything else, but if you are stuck watching it, you won't be offended. (Blu-ray, February 2012)
