BjornFree writes: on Jul 31 2008 12:18 PM In reply to this comment (#1940368) If he were an idiot, he wouldn't have admitted that the movie was "dumb", "absurd", and "proposterous." (Reply to this) |

SuperJerkmo writes: on Jul 31 2008 12:26 PM Ebert reviews movies for what they are now. If the Mummy movie is suppose to be a dramatic epic then it's a poor film because it failed to be that movie. If it's suppose to be a fun popcorn action flick then it's a good movie because that's what it is. This isn't quantum physics people. (Reply to this) |

markbart0305 writes: on Jul 31 2008 12:28 PM Ebert's changed over the years. Now, it seems like he enjoys every movie that comes out. Before he used to be one of the most critical critics there was. Now he gives nearly every movie at least 2 stars. (Reply to this) |

dystopiandweller writes: on Jul 31 2008 12:30 PM This was a quality positive review of a weak movie because the critic acknowledges that by all accounts he probably shouldn't have liked it. He knows it's absurd. But if it's fun, it's fun. (Reply to this) |

Floor Man writes: on Jul 31 2008 12:33 PM I...don't quite know what to say to this epic fall of such a (seemingly?) great critic.... (Reply to this) |

bdbaseball439 writes: on Jul 31 2008 12:34 PM Ebert buddy it's just time to stop reviewing movies. You really have lost touch, and it seems like you have given almost every wide release that has come out this summer a positive review. You gave XF2 3 and 1/2 last week, and now you give Mummy, supposedly the worst movie of the summer 3. You do understand that just cause a movie comes out and says we're gonna go for the most obvious stuff and be dumb and stupid while doing it, that it doesn't succeed just because it meets those standards. dystopiandweller writes: on Jul 31 2008 12:38 PM In reply to this comment (#1940492) Yeah, the 3.5/4 to X-Files 2 last week was pushing it.... (Reply to this) |

Some guy you dont know writes: on Jul 31 2008 01:20 PM Wow, how dare him actually like cinema. He should be like you cool elitists, who hate everything. Every freakin' week I hear some tool say ''Ebert should retire''. He isn't. So shut the **** because nobody is listening. (Reply to this) |

bdbaseball439 writes: on Jul 31 2008 01:36 PM He can like cinema, but that doesn't mean liking every single movie that gets released. (Reply to this) |

Tridus writes: on Jul 31 2008 01:59 PM This review exposes flaws in rating systems more then Eberts judgement. The review is pretty clear on why it gets this rating: despite the flaws, he enjoyed the movie. Whats going on is the movie is being reviewd on two different scales at once. There's the "is it good" scale, and the "is it entertaining" scale. The two aren't the same, but the revies are mashed together into one tomatometer. (Reply to this) |

doodlerman writes: on Jul 31 2008 02:08 PM This is why I like most movies that other people hate. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Jul 31 2008 02:10 PM In reply to this comment (#1940368) Have any of you seen it yet to judge?!?!?!? No! Roger is admitting it is dumb but it is fun, aka a guilty pleasure...Even critics have guilty pleaseures, we all do even if we dont want to admit it. He said it entertained him and had fun... He says if you expect to be junk then you will find junk, if you think it looks fun it will be fun. I for one am I going to see this, like Roger I didnt like The Mummy 2 but I thought the first one was pretty good. (Reply to this) |

homer42016 writes: on Jul 31 2008 02:30 PM In reply to this comment (#1940488) Floor Man, quit trying to sound clever and shut the f*** up. He liked it, and if you don't like that he liked it, boohoo. You're so put upon. Baby. (Reply to this) |

homer42016 writes: on Jul 31 2008 02:33 PM In reply to this comment (#1940585) bdbaseball, he doesn't like every movie released. Have you been to his website? He didn't like Step Brothers, Mad Money, and many others. You saying he should retire is like saying you're not ignorant. Not true. (Reply to this) |
