Critic Review - Sin Magazine

The story had promise but it ends up being half baked by a director who wants to show off that he went to film school.

this comment is funny to me because wong kar-wai never went anywhere near film school. the shutter/cinematographic effects he employs in his film are from his previous cinematographer who pretty much trained his eye (a cinematographer who is regarded as one of the best ever). i think i mostly just disagree with when you say "badly directed" and then comment on a photographic quality of the film (it's a process called step printing and if you check out his earlier work you'll seeit in grand form).

either way, i though MBN was a huge letdown also (not photographically), but chungking express, in the mood for love, happy together, fallen angels, and days of being wild are all miraculous works of art.
