The film will briefly take fans into reverse to review the history of this legendary sport, told from the viewpoint of some of its most revered drivers, and will then thrust into high gear with a look at the thrilling phenomenon that is NASCAR today. Featuring rare behind-the-scenes glimpses, as well as gripping footage of the unpredictable action on the track, NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience will provide a close-up look at what motivates NASCAR drivers in and out of competition. NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience will also focus on the science of today's racing technology, the cutting-edge racing machines and the underlying physics that drivers depend on to take turns at the highest speeds while skillfully maneuvering within inches of their competitors. The film is narrated by Golden Globe Award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland (24, Phonebooth, and Taking Lives) and directed by Simon Wincer (Lonesome Dove, Free Willy, Phar Lap and The Young Black Stallion). James Neihouse, one of the large-format medium's preeminent cinematographers (SPACE STATION 3D, Michael Jordan to the Max, Rolling Stones at the Max, The Dream is Alive), is the director of photography; Neil Goldberg (producers of Fox's NASCAR coverage) executive produces and IMAX Corporations' Lorne Orleans and Douglas "Disco" Hylton produces. -- © Warner Bros. A rather rote and superficial look at the NASCAR circuit. Full Review |

It turns out that racing around an oval track offers surprisingly few opportunities to exploit 3D effectively. Full Review |

I wanted more time on the track, more passing, more actual racing. NASCAR (Stock car racing) implies "adrenaline rush" and I missed that in this otherwise solid documentary. Full Review |

The film is about as illuminating as the race cars' stickered-on headlights. Full Review |

This one does manage to put audiences in the action. And its brief examinations of the science of auto racing are pretty educational. Full Review |

Part infomercial, part historical documentary, all in 3-D, Nascar 3D is best seen as a spectacle, something that exists for its format rather than its content. Full Review |

Those vehicles sure are big, they come right at you, and they're in one heck of a hurry. For about 40 minutes, that's all you really need. Full Review |

An interesting behind-the-scenes look at one of the world's most popular spectator sports. Full Review |

Offers a bit of NASCAR history, a smattering of engineering facts, glimpses of some of the sport's most popular personalities and a whole lot of hyperbolic chatter about the populist glory of driving really noisy cars in a circle at 200 miles per hour. Full Review |

Its rampant corporate sponsorship is messy and distracting, and the athleticism necessary to triumph is still less intriguing (perhaps because it's less visible) than the athleticism necessary to triumph in, say, baseball. Full Review |

Doesn't quite overcome its shameless self-promotion, but the film will satisfy the Lynyrd Skynyrd set while providing a decent explanation to those who are baffled by the sport's popularity. Full Review |

An uneven combination of documentary and demolition drama. Full Review |
