Including the megahit "Heart of Gold" (with background vocals by Linda Ronstadt), HARVEST also features some of Young's darkest compositions, like the entropy-obsessed "Old Man" and the junkie eulogy "The Needle and the Damage Done." The underlying tone of hopeful sadness also permeates several of the album's most recognizable tracks ("Harvest," "A Man Needs a Maid"), which ache with a timelessness that never grows wearisome. This multi-platinum, classic album proved to be Young's best-selling effort. The perfect blend of country, rock, and blues, HARVEST helped to make Young the legend he is today, and in turn inspired a generation of imitators. This DVD-Audio release enhances the original album's production with mixes designed specifically for the format. [More]
