At 25, Josie Geller is the youngest copy editor at the Chicago Sun-Times, and the obvious choice to go undercover on a story about what the "cool kids" of high school are up to. A dorky teen dubbed "Grossie Josie" the first time around, this time Josie is required to make friends with the popular kids in order to deliver on her assignment. Unfortunately, now that Josie has come into her own as an intelligent young woman with a career and a brain in her head, those aren't the people she's interested in; as she begins to develop feelings for a teacher she's been ordered to portray badly, things start to get really complicated! Will Josie redeem herself from the mistakes she made in her high school years, or will she find herself repeating them all over again? [More]

Reviews for Never Been Kissed
Never Been Kissed is all over the movie genre map, from romantic comedy to teen comedy to poignant high school drama. And, unfortunately, little of it works.
The film somewhat succeeds, but only due to the sheer charm and winning ways of lead actress Barrymore.
The flashback-Josie is so grotesque, and the present-tense-Josie so unbelievable that "Never Been Kissed" is essentially an exercise in humiliation.
Barrymore is actually becoming quite the deft physical comedienne, unafraid to make herself look unsightly for effect. But her performance isn’t enough to overcome even one of the other problems.
Effortlessly convincing as a smart, klutzy, Marilyn Monroe-ishly vulnerable but prematurely spinsterish romantic, Barrymore displays here a comic talent equal to Goldie Hawn's or Meg Ryan's at their best.
Es de esas cintas que debieron de irse directo al video y mejor deberían dejarle el lugar en la cartelera a trabajos realmente valiosos
A lively tribute to the awkwardness and power of adolescent girlhood.
Barrymore and Arquette take their performances to heart and are clearly having a ball with the material, but it's Gosnell's solid direction that keeps the film afloat.
Drew Barrymore movies have an advantage that others don't -- they have Drew Barrymore in them. But that doesn't take away from the fact that she makes more lousy pictures than any other good actress.
