This series captured my imagination in a way no other has done, not even the "Best anime series of all time" Neon Genesis Evangelion. The emotion that this series brings forth is so uncanny. I honestly felt for these characters in a way no other piece of anime (or film, tv, literature) has ever done.
What works best for the series:
Everything. The animation is spectacular, there is superb character development, the plot is one of the most intricate and equally interesting ones I have ever come across.
Wow, I can't even write too much about this series because I am still in awe.
This is exactly what I love about anime.
When my thoughts clear, I'll write more about it.
