Siskel and Ebert once pointed out that when the studio holds back a film, and doesn't allow it to be reviewed ahead of time, it means the studio knows it is NOT a good film. They are giving up the free publicity of reviews because they know that most of the reviews will be bad ones. They are relying on the paid advertising and the actors names to give them a better opening weekend than they deserve. So personally I never go to the opening weekend of a show with no reviews, it'll be a waste of my time and money.
