Definitely one of the most impressive movies produced by Romanian cinema, The Oak is a strange symbiosis between two "weird" extrovert characters and the communist regime. It all falls so swiftly into place that the film often feels part of a ludicrous adventure into a fairy tale. Sounds mad and actually is, just that
