Irene is an editor living under the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile. Francisco is a photographer and he comes to Irene for a job. As a sympathizer with the resistance movement, Francisco opens her eyes to the atrocities being committed by the state.

Misconceived and curiously uninvolving political melodrama, despite the urgent subject.
Nice performances by Connelly and Banderas can't make up for the rest of this snoozefest.
I'm shocked this movie was given such low ratings. The performances were great, the settings and characters well rounded and believable. Banderas and Connelly are two of the most beautiful people in the movies today. The story line had me on the edge of my seat. Yes, it was told in a "laid back" sort of dreamy
