I would say most or all of the Die Hard movies were more polished than this. If you like this kind of movie, I think Olympus will get by, but a little rough in places.

Great Action, Suspenseful, but totally unbelievable. Speaker of the House supports bombing NK if they don't comply with sanctions in the beginning of the movie then is willing to give up SK in trade for the president's life? President tells VP & Secretary of State to give away their Cerberious passwords because he is so tough they will never get his???!?!? And then, how did they get his anyway??? one unfathamable stupid decision after another.. Government officials are stupid, but had to imagine that many stupid decisions per hour...

It's not a Die Hard wannabe... this could have been a very successful Die Hard Reboot. They should have just called it "Die Hard: Olympus Has Fallen" and I would have been pleased.

Funny thing, I just saw the movie at a screening, and the first thing that I notice was all of the Die Hard elements... Your description of Die Hard in the White House is spot on. Mainly the first Die Hard.

The premise of the film was "Die Hard in the White House." That was the whole point. It's fiction and it's fun. The Secret Service was consulted on it. Just enjoy it for being a kick-ass action-thriller.
