I took a look at some of the critics whose vote counts for these ratings. Some of them are really small potatoes, like some small blog in North Carolina, some small paper in Oklahoma, etc. I usually ignore those ratings, and look for myself. They all gave a good rating to Magic Mike, which I thought was one of the worst films I have seen in recent years. Get him to the Greek was also popular. Thought it was incredibly dumb, college frat boy jokes. Except for Brand, he came across as someone distinctive. So I make up my own mind. I know I will seldom agree with most critics, many of whom have an agenda to push.
Well, I don't trust the critics either (because most of them are pretentious morons who have forgotten that a movie's mission is to entertain), but I don't trust the audience (because they're morons who have given us the sequels to the Transformers movies). The only opinion that matters is your own.
Hmm. Did they do an early release for selected critics? G.I. Joe (2009) started out around 94% and dropped into the 40's immediately after wide release. It was suspicious!
