Audience Reviews for One Day Like Rain

SALES PITCH: "Dude, it'll be, like, really deep because we'll play pensive music over long takes that do nothing to progress the story! "

The director is obviously a big Lynch fan but lacks the basic vision, ingenuity and sense of irony necessary to keep this poor attempt at headiness afloat as it drifts aimlessly between each non-existent plot point. On top of that the actors lack the experience to emotionally convey any inner turmoil, or give us insight as to layers that may or may not exist beneath their facades.
What do we have? Guess that metaphor!
Existential crises? Drug abuse? Teen angst? Life on Mars? Or just a day in the life of batshit-crazy teenage girls?
Who knows. Frankly, about halfway through it all becomes irrelevant anyway. The point is; there's a time and place for open-ended storytelling. Sometimes the audience learns more by not being given clear-cut resolutions and statements of truth. However, here the writer's obtuseness clearly gives away his ineptitude as they use vagueness as a means unto itself...which is itself completely pointless and the movie ceases to be a movie.

27 minutes into the movie and I'm still wondering what the heck is going on here? Why did they even make this movie. There doesn't seem to be any purpose at all. The acting is subpar at best. The main character is a pretentious know-it-all teenage girl who really does not have a clue as to what she is doing. This is Home Alone for teenagers and no funny at all. I painfully watched this movie and found no focus and no direction whatsoever for this movie. Sad, as Jesse Eisenberg went on to bigger and better movies like Zombieland, but here, he is just a side show. The best friend, Marina Resa seems to be decent with what they give her here. At best, this is Buffy the Vampire Slayer without the great writing, acting, and directing.
