Movie Info

This homage to the cinema by venerated movie-maker Agnes Varda, often dubbed the "grandmother" of the French New Wave, features an all-star international cast. The story is based upon the memories and insights of the 100-year old Mr. Simon Cinema. He lives in a magnificent house filled with movie memorabilia. To help him remember the important details of his career he hires Camille, a film student to write down his remembrances and experiences which have involved all areas of movie-making.

I found it to be the only Varda film I didn't like.

Audience Reviews for One Hundred and One Nights

The only reason to watch this homage to cinema is if you are very familiar with the films and reigning stars of European cinema during the late forties through mid-eighties. Unfortunately, my sub-titling didn't work, so I may have rated the film a bit better had I understood the lengthy dialogue. Since I am an avid fan of European film, I enjoyed seeing the aged ensemble cast, including Marcello, Anouk Aimee, Catherine Deneuve, Gina Lollobrigida, Sandrine Bonnaire, Gerard Depardeu, Jean Paul Belmondo, Alain Delon, and, of course, Michel Piccolo. If these names mean nothing to you, don't watch the film.
