Movie Info

In this sequel to the animated adventure Open Season, Elliot (Joel McHale) and Giselle (Jane Krakowski) are about to get married when a group of pampered pets dognap Mr. Weenie (Cody Cameron) and attempt to return him to his human owners. Mr. Weenie is missing, and now it's up to Elliot, Boog (Mike Epps), and McSquizzy (Billy Connolly) to rescue their old friend from toy poodle Fifi (Crispin Glover) and his gang of domesticated thugs. But these creeps aren't about to give up Mr. Weenie without a

Like the previous film, it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's not high art, but it's fun and silly for kids and families.

Even though it's cursed with a small budget and a complete overhaul of the voice cast, Season 2 is a gentle charmer, yet even more importantly, it's practically A Night at the Opera compared to the first film.

Now and again, the humour is quite effective and the spoof of RV road warriors hits the mark, but more often, the jokes are higher on energy than they are on laugh generation.

Audience Reviews for Open Season 2

Open Season 2 continues the harmless adventures of Boog and Elliot. I myself often like more of these animations with lesser budget. Directors Matthew O'Callaghan and Todd Wilderman are not aiming for moon with this nice little story. It is much more on the ground than many other todays hyper-active animations and relies more on the cute and funny characters it has. This second entry might not be as innovative as the first one, but emotionally it is equally sweet and in the end even touching. This might not be nothing more than a pure entertainment, but it is well made and you can tell that it's makers do care about these animal characters. If you compare Open Season-trilogy to much bigger Ice Age-trilogy or Madagascar-trilogy, it is clear that Open Season is the most assured work of them all.

I might have been able to stand Open Season 2 if it had a good enough story too it because I think the humour was slightly better then the first and a bit more tolerable among adults. Unfortunately, the movie never went anywhere.
