That was fast...or was it slow considering we're talking Disney?

So would it be a remake of the 1939 one then?

I wonder who's reading the tea leaves at the Magic Kingdom on this one...because I think its not going to pull in the kind of cheddar that ALICE IN WONDERLAND did...and didn't I once read something similar just prior to the release of JOHN CARTER?

I agree, it was far better then the critical consensus. Unfortunately, it under-performed financially...so no sequel there. Kind of like JACK THE GIANT SLAYER last weekend...and I'm doubtful of OZ appealing to a different demographic than JACK...

Oz is currently tracking for an 80 mil opening weekend, which is more than what Jack will make in its entire run.

From what I saw of John Carter it was horrible...

By my tastes John Carter was an unbearable mess. The Savior of Mars acting like an inconvenienced Prick was pretty lame. I miss shock and awe at witnessing impossible things from my hero's. Not the entitled ass hole attitude that so many action heroes have these days. The fact that battleship was worse is nothing short of a miracle.

I agree "John Carter" was a convoluted mess! The creator which was Edgar Rice Barrows meeting the character he created was dumb!

Loved John Carter as well! I really wish they would make a sequel! Gods Of Mars is such a great book! It would make a great movie.

King Simba

Yeah, other than the somewhat underwhelming climax it was a pretty solid adventure flick. A sequel would have much more potential than say an Alice in Wonderland sequel, but unfortunately it's not going to happen.

Now you know why "John Carter" flopped because a sequel was planned!

Well, planning a sequel to Oz before release didn't hurt it.
