"Scary" Weekend for Spoof Competitors
by Scott Weinberg | April 17, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

WeinsteinCo's Scary Movie 4 made a huge pile of cash over the holiday weekend, demolishing Panic Room's $30 million Easter haul from a few years back. The silly sequel scared up an amazing $41 million from more than 3,600 screens -- and yes, Scary Movie 5 will be hitting theaters at this time next year. (Shocker, eh?) Back to Article

What's even harder to believe than the estimated $41 million opening is the fact that "Scary Movie 3" raked in a total of $110 million at the domestic box office. The world has gone to hell.

I knew people would return to the BO once hollywood started making good films .) either that or like I've theorized for a long time the box-office 'slump' was due to a lack of sequels and poor marketing

It was totally due to a lack of sequels. The slump was completely exaggerated by journalists who weren't box office analysts.

Woo! American Dreamz! Finally a moving coming out that I WANT to see.

Honestly, this week, skip Scary Movie 4 and see Thank you for Smoking instead. MUCH funnier than any spoof-movie sequel could ever be.

It's a Zucker film.

The man did Airplane, the Naked Gun series, and Baseketball. ("But that was Trey Parker & Matt Stone!" ...check the credits, it's & David Zucker).

Scary Movie 3 was good too. No suprise here.
