In 1985, the foundation took a historic trip to the People's Republic of China for a peacekeeping mission that witnessed the signing of the Children's Declaration of Dependence for nuclear nonproliferation by Chinese premier Zhao Ziyang, Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi, and Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev.
