An excellent overview of two decades' graffiti in San Francisco.
Perhaps the definitive film work on the subject, though the psychology motivating it is left for the analysts and may well be the subject of much more study.
hits rock bottom when the film tries to connect graffiti-writing's recent classification as a felony with rape and murder, absurdly implying that graffiti artists might be executed for their crime.
Piece by Piece gets this graffiti culture completely right, in all its ways and arguments about crews, attitudes, and whatever else is on these artists' minds.
Great movie. Tying graffiti with the punishment of execution was a bit much but I guess it was used to try to get a point across. Exaggeration being a common thing in graffiti art, it's understandable. Made a lot of cogent arguments and harmoniously balanced the commonly known negative aspects of graffiti with the
