This is a little less harmless than the straight-to-video stuff, and there are seven newly written and performed tunes by the sweet-sounding Carly Simon for the old fogies in the house.

This time around Pooh's smallest pal is given the star treatment in this sweet and touching adaptation of A. A.Milne's original short stories. Set to a lyrical and lighthearted soundtrack by Carly Simon, the adventure begins in the Hundred-Acre-Wood as the gang gets ready for the Honey Harvest. Much to his chagrin, Piglet (Voice of John Fiedler) is left out of the festivities because he is declared too small to help, so the unsung hero abandons his pals to wander the wood and think about his place, however small, in the world. Eventually Winnie (Voice of Jim Cummings), Tigger (also Cummings), Rabbit (Voice of Ken Sansom), Eeyore (Peter Cullen), Owl (Voice of Andre Stojka), and Christopher Robin (Voice of Tom Wheatley) realize that their friend is missing and set out to find him with the help of Piglet's "Book of Memories," a scrapbook of their adventures. As the gang searches for Piglet they relive their many adventures, told in flashbacks, and realize what an important part he has played in each of their lives. This sweet-tempered, feel-good adventure is full of empowering messages of self worth for children of all ages; Piglet proves that sometimes heroes can come in the tiniest of packages. [More]

Reviews for Piglet's Big Movie
Piglet's Big Movie complements (rather than detracts from) the much-loved originals.
A pint-sized delight, combining high-quality (but traditional-looking) animation, a sweet story and an excellent batch of Carly Simon songs.
Any day (even a blustery one) spent with Winnie the Pooh and the gang in the Hundred Acre Wood can't be bad.
An improvement on the loud, un-A.A. Milne-like The Tigger Movie, mainly because it better captures the gentle, sampler-quilt world of the Hundred Acre Wood.
Although time considerations have forced screenwriter Brian Hohlfeld to strip away the subtle complexities of Milne’s plotting, he’s managed to retain the aching melancholy of animal characters whose persistent self-doubt has a human resonance.
Piglet’s Big Movie is what might be called second-rank Disney animation [but it] works, the kids will like it, and it provides a little escape from the news.
The movie has lots of charm, and you can't help but root for the titular little runt.
While nowhere near as captivating as ABC’s “The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh,” this is a pleasant enough family diversion.
If you're a parent ... this isn't a bad 75-minute distraction for the little ones.
A soft, cuddly, thoroughly inoffensive ode to friendship designed for the six-and-under set.
Charming, warm and witty, the wonderful Pooh gang proves to be as entertaining as ever. . . Piglet's Big Movie is big, big fun.
Piglet finally comes into his own in Disney's charming Piglet's Big Movie.
A warm, fun and genial movie that rates as inspired entertainment for kids.
As kiddie fare goes, this amiable outing is empowering and endearing -- just the object lesson a child should discover in one of his first treks to the cinema.
Speaking as someone who has not visited the planet of Milne in decades, I was pleased to return to a place where words such as 'eureka' and 'aha' are central to the vocabulary: expressions of discovery and affirmation.
