This time around Pooh's smallest pal is given the star treatment in this sweet and touching adaptation of A. A.Milne's original short stories. Set to a lyrical and lighthearted soundtrack by Carly Simon, the adventure begins in the Hundred-Acre-Wood as the gang gets ready for the Honey Harvest. Much to his chagrin, Piglet (Voice of John Fiedler) is left out of the festivities because he is declared too small to help, so the unsung hero abandons his pals to wander the wood and think about his place, however small, in the world. Eventually Winnie (Voice of Jim Cummings), Tigger (also Cummings), Rabbit (Voice of Ken Sansom), Eeyore (Peter Cullen), Owl (Voice of Andre Stojka), and Christopher Robin (Voice of Tom Wheatley) realize that their friend is missing and set out to find him with the help of Piglet's "Book of Memories," a scrapbook of their adventures. As the gang searches for Piglet they relive their many adventures, told in flashbacks, and realize what an important part he has played in each of their lives. This sweet-tempered, feel-good adventure is full of empowering messages of self worth for children of all ages; Piglet proves that sometimes heroes can come in the tiniest of packages. [More]

  • Piglet's Big Movie
  • Straight from theaters, it's Piglet's very first movie . . . and a BIG one at that! In the grand tradition of Winnie the Pooh animated features, you'll delight in PIGLET'S BIG MOVIE, a wonderful story of friendship, fun, and appreciation in which Pooh and the gang learn it doesn't take somebody big to do big things! Piglet disappears into the Hundred Acre Wood after hearing he is "just too small" to help with the gang's hunny-gathering scheme. Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and the others "think, think, think" and decide to use Piglet's scrapbook of memories to find him. Soon, they realize just how big a part Piglet plays in their many adventures together. Filled with adventure, laughter, and heart, and five new songs, PIGLET'S BIG MOVIE is endearing fun for all ages -¿ sure to charm everyone in the entire family!

The screenplay by Brian Hohlfeld incorporates three of the original Pooh stories but captures none of the charm of A.A. Milne's droll voice.

Fiedler brings his trademark high-pitched squeal to the beloved, childlike Piglet. The other voice actors are just as good, with each one providing great heart and verve for their respective characters.

Sure it's slight, but also as cute as the curly tail on its tender protagonist.

Screenwriter Brian Hohlfeld imbues the animals with the easily recognizable foibles and insecurities that have made Milne's stories (and the films adapted from them) so endearing through the generations.

This is harmless fun for the kindergarten crowd, but even they will notice that the Blustery Day video they've been playing at home is a lot better.

I suggest you get out the books, which for once can truly be said to be more spectacular than the movie.

Speaking as someone who has not visited the planet of Milne in decades, I was pleased to return to a place where words such as 'eureka' and 'aha' are central to the vocabulary: expressions of discovery and affirmation.
