JakeTheSnakeMane writes: on Aug 06 2008 07:35 PM Grandma's Boy had no memorable characters really. Although Peter Dante's character was pretty funny. I'd say Jay and Silent Bob #1 and then Smokey #2. (Reply to this) |

Young Turk writes: on Aug 06 2008 07:59 PM Seriously, Cheech and Chong movies are a chore to sit through. (Reply to this) |
The Truth About Jack Hair writes: on Aug 06 2008 09:33 PM Cheech and Chong are the best stoners ever in cinema, especially since we have a handful to sit through as opposed to these cameos that made it onto the list. The Dude is a better character, not a better stoner. (Reply to this) |
Jack Waters writes: on Aug 06 2008 09:41 PM Why did Wayne's World and Bill & Ted make the list. Aren't the Bill & Ted movies rated PG?! If you're going to make a stoner movie you must at least qualify by showing a few guys get stoned on camera. Can't wait to see Pineapple Express. (Reply to this) |
EZ_Dunn writes: on Aug 06 2008 10:02 PM "I believe him, man. I don't know why, but I do." I love that line. As for Wayne's World (1&2) even siskel and ebert got a contact high from both these flicks. It's fun watching their reviews ... (Reply to this) |
sam.chomnoky writes: on Aug 06 2008 10:30 PM In reply to this comment (#1958693) Yah i have to second that, where is ANYONE from Dazed & Confused? That's got to be one of the best stoner movies out there (Reply to this) |

blattman writes: on Aug 06 2008 10:32 PM Pinapple Express was a good addition to the stoner genre. It was fun and both Seth Rogan and James Franco were believable stoners. Honestly though, putting Bill, Ted, Garth and Wayne is just cheating or wishful thinking. The hookah smoking catapiller from any of the dozen Alice in Wonderland movies would have been a better referance. (Reply to this) |
sam.chomnoky writes: on Aug 06 2008 10:33 PM In reply to this comment (#1959004) i dunno if smoking shisha makes you a stoner... (Reply to this) |

Inf3rno71685 writes: on Aug 07 2008 12:34 AM All I know is that if they make a.. acid / lsd / just plain trippy movie.. Natural born killers and Fear and loathing in Las Vegas are run away number 1's and 2's (Reply to this) |
tomwaitsjr writes: on Aug 07 2008 04:45 AM I'm saddened by this list. I like that Floyd is there though. I guess he was the inspiration for "Pineapple Express." Apatow saw the movie, and thought "What if a film had a Floyd as the main actor, and had pot peddlers as violent as the drug dealers from True Romance?" I think a Stoner should be someone who we know smokes pot, and isn't someone who just does every drug possible, like Dewey Cox. And, yah, the guys from Dazed and Confused need to be there. (Reply to this) |
ragethorn13 writes: on Aug 07 2008 04:47 AM This list sucks! Dazed & Confused is the #1 stoner movie. (Reply to this) |
tomwaitsjr writes: on Aug 07 2008 04:50 AM I haven't seen P.E., but that seems to be the impetus for this list, so it's odd that Franco's character isn't on the list. . . (Reply to this) |

Hoosierdaddy101 writes: on Aug 07 2008 05:29 AM Excuse me Sean Penn Fast Times at Ridgemont High, hes pretty memorable for me (Reply to this) |

Drunken Mastermind writes: on Aug 07 2008 05:37 AM The Dude, Jay and Silent Bob, and Spicooli are all uch better than Cheech and Chong. Decent list overall though. (Reply to this) |
mattjgibson writes: on Aug 07 2008 06:03 AM Okay, who the hell is Brian Breuer in Half Baked? Jim Breuer's identical twin brother? And yes, His Dudeness should be #1. (Reply to this) |

adkboomer writes: on Aug 07 2008 06:07 AM Well this list is 'ok' but Wayne?!? Psha right? As if...!?! And monkeys might fly...well y'know. I agree with whoever said that for someone to make this list they should actually be seen getting high. Part of Wayne's mystique is that he's just an awesome laid back dude... no one ever said the boy was high. Anyways...you missed one of my favorite movie stoners (even if it is a small part) and one of the best lines about ganj in film...Donald Sutherland's stoned professor in Animal House...Larry 'Pinto' Kroger, Otter, and the always beautiful Karen Allen are getting high with Sutherland. Kroger is awestruck at a bit of cosmic wisdom Sutherland has laid on him about the whole universe being a tiny speck on some guy's thumbnail...Kroger is floored for a moment before turning back to Sutherland..."Can I buy some pot from you?". Genius. It's funny because it's true. (Reply to this) |

reapermad writes: on Aug 07 2008 08:42 AM Wayne's World? Bill and Ted's? WTF? Just because the characters act dumb/slow, does not mean they are stoners. That's pretty cliched, not to mention these are not stoner flicks. Come on now, there's so many better and actual stoner movies out there. Try harder with your list next time, RT. (Reply to this) |
reapermad writes: on Aug 07 2008 08:45 AM Bi Lebowski and Fast Times should be tied for first place. Haven't seen Pineaplle Express yet, but will Friday, so we'll see how it compares. (Reply to this) |
Dav3 writes: on Aug 07 2008 01:56 PM In reply to this comment (#1959369) absolutely! I was just going to bring up Donald Sutherland as for Cheech and Chong, whether you enjoy their movies or not, they are the ultimate stoners. Just think, what is the one and only thing they're known for... (Reply to this) |

mkfulton writes: on Aug 07 2008 03:24 PM So who the heck is Brian Breuer? Party foul on the detail, and where is Grandma's Boy? (Reply to this) |

AuraconE writes: on Aug 07 2008 03:27 PM This isn't best stoners, but most memorable. So I agree with Cheech and Chong. But Bill & Ted and Wayne ? No. Harold and Kumar #2 For sure though. (Reply to this) |

awe$omus writes: on Aug 07 2008 05:03 PM This is the worst list of movie stoners that could ever be created. Poltergeist? Really? A two minute scene of the parents tokin makes them memorable stoners? And Bill,Ted,Wayne, and Garth? Idiots not stoners.Funny, but not stoners. Jeff Giles and Alex Vo don't waste my time again. (Reply to this) |
TheMovieWhore writes: on Aug 07 2008 06:47 PM You guys screwed the pooch again. Wayne never smoked on screen. Neither did Bill and Ted. You completely missed Dazed and Confused and The Stoned Age and Grandmas Boy, and Refer Madness and several others. What happen to you guys? You used top be good at this stuff and the last couple lists have been ridiculously poor writing and choices. Do you even watch movies? (Reply to this) |

juddyfresh writes: on Aug 07 2008 10:03 PM What about Hunter S. Thompson? He was in "Where the Buffalo Roam" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Given their characters are based on actual person, and they're known for being more than just stoners, but both performances by Murray and Depp are memorable. (Reply to this) |
ebero writes: on Aug 07 2008 10:23 PM My favourite quote from The Dude - "obviously you're not a golfer." Classic. (Reply to this) |

dred writes: on Aug 08 2008 08:21 AM There is no other place but #1 for Jeff Spicoli. There is no argument about this matter. Any attempt to argue differently will merely display ignorance. Easily Sean Penn's greatest performance of his career, he should have won the Oscar for his portrayal of Jeff. Together with his Stoner Buds, Anthony Edwards and Eric Stolz, he stole the show. Keanu Reeves in the Top 15? Remember, these are supposed to ACTORS....you know, people who are PRETENDING to be stoners, not the real thing. (Reply to this) |
tomwaitsjr writes: on Aug 08 2008 10:01 AM Oh, your right. I forgot about Reefer Madness. "FASTER!. . . FASTER!. . .no. . . FASTER!!!!!! =) And, Smiley Face is under-rated. Faris did a great job in that film! POLTERGEIST? Can you possibly REACH any more? JUST STOP! (Reply to this) |

Wrathbone writes: on Aug 09 2008 03:35 AM I think if you're going to include Wayne's World, and they didn't even mention pot, you gotta show some respect to Ed, in Shaun of the Dead. (Reply to this) |

Cole_Cash writes: on Aug 11 2008 01:49 PM In reply to this comment (#1963140) El Dudeino made the perfect list of stoners... I created an account on RT (And I've been reading these comment sections for years) just to say how perfect his list is. You RT writers should edit your list. The only thing El Dudeino forgot was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. When they are listing off the drugs they brought to Vegas "grass" was on the list. And no I don't think that all the other drug movies featuring meth-amphetamines, heroine, cocaine, etc should be allowed on this list. Waynes world should at best get an honorable mention but not a space ont he list. Pinapple Express was fantastic. I loved it. 15. Mae and Jack, the dealers from "Reefer Madness" 14. Lester Burnham, Kevin Spacey's character from "American Beauty" 13. Alex and his friends from "Grandma's boy" 12. Floyd, the roommate from "True Romance" 11. Ben Stone and his roommates from "Knocked up" 10. Cheech & Chong 9. Harold & Kumar 8. Jay & Silent Bob 7. Billy & Wyatt from "Easy Rider" 6. Smokey from "Friday" 5. Dale and Saul from "Pineapple Express" 4. The guys from "Half-Baked" 3. The entire cast of "Dazed & Confused" 2. Sean Penn from "Fast Times" 1. The Dude himself! from "The Big Labowski" 0. Dr. Gonzo and Raoul Duke from "Fear and Loathing Las Vegas" (Reply to this) |
