Ring in the new year with a stoner comedy from the Apatow gang (Pineapple Express), a critically-acclaimed British horror import (Eden Lake), and the movie that brought together the sultry forces of Sir Ben Kingsley and Mary-Kate Olsen, at long last (The Wackness). Try your best to avoid a handful of clunkers new to DVD this week (Babylon A.D., Righteous Kill, Bangkok Dangerous) and, if you know what a Cylon is, get jazzed for Season 4.0 of the best sci-fi series on television (Battlestar Galactica)!

1. Pineapple Express -- 68%

The Apatow train chugs along with Pineapple Express, a film that couldn't fall farther from director David Gordon Green's last film, Snow Angels; nevertheless, with Apatow regulars Seth Rogen and James Franco in tow, Green made another crowd-pleasing comedy for grown-ups that should find a home on the shelves of any self-respecting man-child. Pick up the 2-Disc Unrated version for more racy laughs in the tale of a slovenly process server (Rogen) and his dopey dealer (Franco, who earned a Golden Globes nomination for his role) on the lam from drug lords and crooked lady cops; a wealth of deleted scenes and featurettes, table read footage, and more accompany the film, although the set's crowning glory is the jam-packed audio commentary featuring a roomful of cast and crew.

Below, watch an exclusive deleted scene from Pineapple Express for additional unseen hijinks starring Asian thugs Bobby Lee and Ken Jeong.

I'll get Pineapple on Blu-Ray sometime this week I'm sure. Babylon A.D. looks pretty funny so I will rent that and I will also rent Righteous Kill because that also look pretty funny- and I love me some Carla Guigno. I know I have The Wackness coming from Netflix tomorrow which I look forward to watching.

The Wackness (8/10)was very good and the 90s feel was amazing, great soundtrack (cant go wrong with Notorious B.I.G.), Kingsley was very good but Josh Peck was great.

I liked Pineaple Express. Franco was awsome in it. Nothing great, but a fun trip.

I cant wait to get to the store today to buy this. I thought it was the best comedy of the year, very underrated. Seeing Red survive it all again is reason enough to buy this.

Ping Pong Playa definitely has it's moments, and I think "Tripping the Rift" is getting released this week.

I'll go buy Pineapple express and the Wackness, I guess add the rest to my netflix list.

I need to watch Battlestar Galactica 4.0 again, since season 4.5 is starting next Friday, and I can't remember what happened in season 4.0, because the SciFi channel makes you wait 97.0 months for the last half of a season.

Pineapple Express was a funny movie, but it wasn't a very good movie (ala Step Brothers) i really don't think it is worth the 2 Disc Special Edition or even the Blu-Ray version.

Points.

Eden Lake in years? I loved Severance! Seems to be from the same school.

BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA

Is that a play on "The Last Supper?" Lol. I think it is. Ballsy.

Again, jen, a great job in what appears to be the week that released the worst films of the year.

I'm getting THE WACKNESS and RIGHTEOUS KILL from Netflix today. Sadly, not Pineapple Express, which I saw in theaters... but... .forgot. .. most of it. . . kind of...whoa... what was I talking about? Can't wait to see it. Wookies.
