Pink Panther 2 Adds Four to Cast
Swine sequel!
by Jeff Giles | August 09, 2007
Discuss Article
Offering another example of how sequel-friendly the studios have become (or proof that there is no God -- take your pick), development on The Pink Panther 2 continues apace: Variety reports that no fewer than four names have been added to the cast.

Starring alongside Steve Martin in the sequel, presently scheduled for a 2009 release, will be Andy Garcia, John Cleese, Alfred Molina, and Aishwarya Rai. Also returning for the second installment are Jean Reno and Emily Mortimer. According to the article:

Cleese will play Chief Inspector Dreyfus in the pic. Garcia, Molina and Rai have signed on as detectives and experts who join forces with Clouseau to catch the thief who has been stealing artifacts around the world.

There is now a scary amount of talent in this cast. The script and director will have to work hard to squander all of it, but if there's one thing this great nation was built on, it's hard work. And sequels nobody asked for. Hey, when is Garfield 3 coming out?

Can Garcia and Molina not find any better roles?

I can't believe anyone saw that blasphemous first one. Peter Sellers can never be outdone, especially by Steve Martin who is clearly past his comedic prime. The fact that they're even bothering with a sequel, and overloading it with has-been actors is only proof that the originals are, and always will be, far superior.

Boycott crap like this. Don't encourage the studios to make more of this bull$hit, by giving them money for it. If you have to see it, please wait until it's the ABC Movie of the week. It'll happen faster than you'd imagine.

I really don't know why people give this movie so much ****. Just because Steve Martin is no Peter Sellers doesnt mean its a bad movie. If you had never heard of Clouseau most people would find it a funny movie.
