Bloom Out For "Pirates 4?"
by RT Staff | October 09, 2006
Discuss Article
Is Will Turner, Orlando Bloom's character in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series, marked for death? According to WENN (via Cinescape), the script for the fourth "Pirates" movie is in the works, and it may sanction the demise of Jack Sparrow's young sidekick.

A Disney insider told the British tabloid The Daily Star Sunday, "The script for the fourth "Pirates" movie is being worked on and all the finances are in place but it was decided Bloom's character and a number of minor roles were not necessary to ensure it would be yet another box office smash for Disney."

"Prates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which stars Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly, and Bloom, has grossed $421M and is the highest grossing film of the year so far; the third installment of the series, subtitled "At World's End," is scheduled for release on May 25, 2007.

Orlando Bloom dying is reason enough for me to see this.

Was anybody else filled with when he died jumping out of the helicopter in Black Hawk Down?

Yeah, that would be funny to see them at the voodoo woman's cot...

"Ya must travel ta tha end o' tha world, if ya wish ta save young Turner's life..."

Sparrow:
"I don't know about you lads, but I've had my fill of adventures, you savvy?"

Mrs. Turner (or Swann, if they ever get married)
"But... You were supposed to not pass up on those rights moments, where you could do good!"

The crew:
"Shut it!"

Although he doesnt add much to the story or the acing stake sit would be a shame to kill him off as the 3 of them just go together (dare i say it but you would always have luke han and leila!) And whats this about cutting costs - the movies make so much money they cant be strapped for cash. Maybe its a case of eyes bigger than belly!
Maybe they should do a one man show with just jack sparrow - now that woudl make a lot of women very happy.

"disney insider" = deliberate leak. :)

Not if "At Worlds End" sucks like "Dead Man's Chest" did, that's for sure.

I have mixed feelings about them killing off Bloom. Sure he's defnately the weakest character in the movies, but the plot for one and two did sort of have him firmly near the center. The original was about him going after Elizabeth with Jack along for the ride, the second one, well it was Jck Sparrow movie but it did feature a lot of Will and his father. And it sounds like the third movie will also feature a fair bit of him. Oh well will have to wait and see. What I find amusing is that they never mentioned a fourth one until Dead Man's Chest did phenomenally well at the Box Office. I'm not complaining, I think they're brilliant movies and can't see why the critics hated the second one. It was great fun and in my eyes even better than the original.

A Pirates of the Carribean movie only needs one character to pull in a solid box, and that's Jack Sparrow.

I don't know what to think, I don't really like Bloom over all, but he really is a large part of these great movies. But Knightley is awesome, so frogleg is a fucking moron.

I can do without Will Turner. I was very sick of him by the end of Pirates 2. Just give me Johnny Depp being awesome, and it's enough for me!

dead mans chest did NOT suck, quit hating. it's like the popular thing to do.

i can see a stand alone jack sparrow movie coming, with some old characters, as well as new ones. could be cool.

I am a huge fan of Pirates of the Carribean movies probably more then the average person, i can't say exactly how i feel since the 3rd one is still months away but, the news on a possible 4th for some reason is shocking to me despite the amount of money they are raking in. I do think however to do away with bloom's character they should do away with knightley's character too. I dont have a problem with her but i think it would be better to do away with both of them instead of just one and have ol' johnny get into trouble with some other people all together and leave the Turner's in peace, through two movies you are use to seeing one and then the other it might be a bit weird to see Elizabeth with Jack and Will either dead or just moved on with his life even though they are in "love" but thats just my opinion.

Oh yeah and POTC: DMC...Rocked face especially as far as sequals go no way they messed up the third one... Johnny probably wouldnt had approved and im sure atleast someone learned from the Matrix debacle.

I don't know if killing off Will is as safe an idea as they think...I know a heck of a lot of 13-18 year old girls who see the Pirate movies for the sole purpose of seeing Orlando's shirt half open.
