Stellan Skarsgard Boards "Pirates of the Caribbean"

Stellan Skarsgard has joined Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequels, according to Comingsoon.net. Their source, the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, says the actor will begin work in February and will finish by December. As for what role he'll be playing, Skarsgard is quoted saying, "I'm playing the old pirate 'Bootstraps' Turner... it should be fun, I enjoyed the first one." 'Bootstraps' Turner is Orlando Bloom's character's father in the first movie. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" made $305M in its domestic run and is based on a theme park ride.

Two Sequels Shot Back To Back?
February to December is very long to shoot one film. If I remember correctly the first Pirates was filmed under a 6 month period? Sounds like they are shooting two sequels back to back. I had a feeling Bootstraps would show up in the next film.

PotC was a great fun movie, not much thinking involved, just a great ride. I'm glad to hear the sequel will be in production next month. Skaarsgard is a pretty good actor too. I remember him most in Ronin.

WHAT??????
In the first one the keep saying Will looks exactly like his father. This guy does not look a thing like Orlando Bloom.

with that length of shoot, it would make sense that they're filming both at the same time... i hope it's true

"This guy does not look a thing like Orlando Bloom."

It's exactly like the key point to remember when watching an opera: the heroine is young and beautiful, no matter what she looks like....
