From director Adam Wingard, who has since become famous for his contributions to the V/H/S anthology films, Pop Skull is an interesting blend of horror, psychological thriller, and arthouse cinema that just never quite coalesces into something profound. It feels like one of the Slaughterd Vomit Dolls films with less gore and nastiness and more pretentiousness. Fascinating to watch at first, the film quickly becomes a tedious film from a director with great aspirations who hasn't quite harnessed them properly yet.
More of an art film than actual horror, this tale of a lonely pill addict haunted by both his past and the ghosts that inhabit his home is an interesting watch, but won't be for all tastes.
Worth a rental for those of you with more of an adventurous streak, but it's definitely a low budget affair, so proceed with expectations suitably adjusted.
