Hamboner, what the hell are you talking about?

I find it interesting how everyone here equates not being able to direct a movie with not being intelligent. The man has a doctorate in literature, so he can't be too stupid. I'm sure most people on these forums are fairly intelligent, but who here has actually made a movie. Show of hands now (raises hand). If you haven't made one, how do you know if you can do any better? Talk is easy and, love him or hate him, he gets it done. And believe it or not, his movies do pretty well in Europe.

I know someone pretty who works with Boll and, according to him, Boll doesn't lose a minute of sleep over all the hate. He's doing what he loves and making lots of money at it. Wish I could say the same (I'm doing what I love, but the money part hasn't happened yet.)

you'd think someone who likes such brilliant films would use it towards good film making.

Doctorate in Literature?

So, I guess we should call him Dr. Boll?

I would think a Doctorate in finance or economics. Brilliant how he took advantage of the German tax laws.

Forget Uwe Boll. Why is RT even acknowledging his existence? The guy is the embodiment of everything that's bad and wrong with movies. If he disappeared the world would be a better place. Nobody asks Kim Jong Il which movies are his favorites. Suck it Uwe Boll.

it's either a crime, or a great blessing that a guy can make such crap, yet still be able to do it for a living.

Now I'm scared, except for the searchers (and that's because i haven't watched it), my favorite movies includes his top 4... and I'm aiming for a career in filmmaking... oh, bloody hell...

Funny you should mention Kim Jong-Il. From the UK Observer:

"Kim Jong Il is a fanatical cineaste who keeps a library of 15,000 films, and had for years been directing his own propaganda movies."

Uwe Boll is a disgrace to the film industry. All you have to do is see his movies, then check their tomatometer on RT. Or you can watch Attack of the Show and watch Olivia Munn tell him live that many people think he's the worst ****ing director of all time.

I admire his courage, but signing the petition against him will earn me a free pack of gum. I dont like him anyways so it worked out well.

"We Were Warriors or Soldiers or whatever?"

Kills whatever credibility he might actually have gained.

Got to admit he has good taste. The only movie on that list I didn't care for was Dances With Wolves, but I know alot of people loved it.

I haven't seen any of his movies simply because they have been so roundly bashed, but yea... he does remind me of a modern day Ed Wood.

I've been watching Attack of the Show, and I don't get what all the big fuss is about Olivia Munn. She's terribly uninteresting. I've been wholly unimpressed so far - does she actually know her stuff or are all of her lines fed to her by their writers? I'm seriously curious to know. For now, she remains the Uwe Boll of geek show hostesses. Only not all that interesting.

I understand that's he good for getting things done - quick n cheaply. But why bother if the end is result is just a total piece of poo? That's like "I respect that guy for building a house so quickly and efficiently" and it's just a pile of bricks with some mortar thrown in. Yeah he's a good business man who is very efficient at filling dvd library shelves with ****. WHY BOTHER?

damn forum messed up my message...

seeing as it's so profound, I must relate my recent thought again:

"Uwe Boll = Ed Wood plus a budget"

I really like Uwe and can't wait for the interview. It's true that he has made some terrible films, but that doesn't make me dislike him as a person. He's funny and witty; there is a reason he's been able to secure financing so consistently. I hope he stays around just so I can enjoy articles like this.

@Jen: Thank you! She is a beautiful girl, but the personality... not so much. In reality it's just the fact that she is associated with video games that has placed her on the dream girl pedestal. I can just hear the nerds now, "She's not like other girls; she understands my love for video games and technology."

Sure she does...

Lots of loser directors name classics as their favorite films. Why? Because these are classics for a reason. Any idiot can enjoy them. Knowing how to /make/ them, however, learning techniques /from/ them is a different thing entirely.
